Modifiers 22, 52, 53, 58, 59, 76, 77, 78, 79, 80, 81, 82, 97, 99, AQ, AR, AS, CR, ET, GA, GC, GJ, GR, KX, PD, Q5, Q6, QJ, XE, XP, XS, and XU may be applicable.

In simple words: The doctor uses a thin, flexible tube with a camera and light (an endoscope) to examine the inside of your nose, the back of your throat, and the area where they connect.

This code represents a nasopharyngoscopy performed with an endoscope.It is considered a separate procedure and is not to be reported in conjunction with codes 31575, 42975, 43197, or 43198. For surgical nasopharyngoscopy with dilation of the eustachian tube, use codes 69705 or 69706.

Example 1: A patient presents with persistent eustachian tube dysfunction. A nasopharyngoscopy is performed to evaluate the adenoids and surrounding tissues., A patient with a history of nasal obstruction undergoes nasopharyngoscopy to assess for the presence of nasal polyps or other abnormalities., A nasopharyngoscopy is performed to evaluate a suspected nasopharyngeal mass identified on a previous imaging study.

Documentation should include the reason for the procedure, the findings, and any procedures performed during the nasopharyngoscopy.
