A rapid influenza test confirms infection with a specific, identifiable influenza virus strain other than H1N1., A patient with a confirmed diagnosis of avian influenza (H5N1 or H7N9), documented through laboratory testing., A patient with laboratory-confirmed influenza from a known novel strain of influenza A.

Documentation should include the type of influenza virus identified, the patient's symptoms, and any diagnostic test results.
