The provider uses this procedure to treat flexor profundus tendon avulsion injury. They will create an incision, dissect through tissue to expose the tendon, repair and reattach the tendon, obtain and attach a graft, ensure hemostasis, and suture the wound.

In simple words: This procedure involves a second surgery to repair a deep tendon in the finger using a tissue graft, while leaving the surface tendon untouched. The second repair happens several days after the initial injury or a previous repair.

Repair or advancement of profundus tendon, with intact superficialis tendon; secondary with free graft (includes obtaining graft), each tendon.

Example 1: A patient sustained a deep finger tendon injury a week ago and now requires surgical repair with a graft., A patient's initial flexor profundus tendon repair failed, necessitating a secondary repair with a free graft., A patient with an avulsion injury to the profundus tendon presents for delayed primary repair after the initial injury became infected.

Documentation should include details of the initial injury, previous treatments, operative report detailing the secondary repair with free graft, type of graft used, and any complications.
