In simple words: A flexible tube with a camera is inserted through your nose to examine your esophagus (the food pipe connecting your mouth and stomach). The doctor may take small tissue samples during the procedure.

This code describes a procedure where a flexible endoscope is inserted through the nose to examine the esophagus and obtain tissue samples (biopsies). The procedure may involve taking one or more biopsies.

Example 1: A patient presents with difficulty swallowing and a suspicion of esophageal cancer. A transnasal esophagoscopy with biopsy is performed to evaluate the esophagus and obtain tissue for diagnosis., A patient with Barrett's esophagus undergoes surveillance with a transnasal esophagoscopy and biopsy to monitor for dysplasia or malignancy., A patient experiences heartburn unresponsive to medication. A transnasal esophagoscopy with biopsy is performed to evaluate for esophagitis or other abnormalities.

Documentation should include the indication for the procedure, the type and number of biopsies taken, findings during the esophagoscopy, and any complications.
