Induced abortion, by one or more vaginal suppositories (e.g., prostaglandin) with or without cervical dilation (e.g., laminaria), including hospital admission and visits, delivery of fetus and secundines.
The provider admits the patient, performs an admission history and physical, inserts a laminaria (if used) into the cervix, and administers the medication vaginally. They manage the labor, deliver the fetus and placenta, inspect for and repair any lacerations, and provide all hospital care until discharge.
In simple words: This procedure ends a pregnancy using medication inserted into the vagina to start labor. Sometimes, a small device is also used to help open the cervix. The procedure includes admission to the hospital, care during labor, delivery of the baby and placenta, and all hospital care until the patient goes home. This method is usually used after the first three months of pregnancy.
This global procedure involves pregnancy termination through the insertion of vaginal suppositories to induce labor contractions. Cervical dilation with laminaria may also be used. The physician admits the patient, induces labor with vaginal suppositories, manages the delivery, and provides all postpartum care in the hospital until discharge.
Documentation should include the gestational age, reason for termination, method of induction, details of labor and delivery, any complications, and postpartum care provided.
