Renal function panel. This panel includes: Albumin, Calcium, total, Carbon dioxide (bicarbonate), Chloride, Creatinine, Glucose, Phosphorus inorganic (phosphate), Potassium, Sodium, and Urea nitrogen (BUN).

All components of the renal function panel must be performed and documented to report 80069. If any components are not performed, they should be reported separately. If additional tests are performed beyond those included in the panel, those tests should also be reported separately. Do not report two or more panel codes that include any of the same constituent tests.

Modifiers may be applicable to 80069. For example, modifier 91 is used to indicate a repeat clinical diagnostic laboratory test.

Medical necessity for 80069 is established when the test is used to evaluate, diagnose, or monitor kidney function in patients with suspected or confirmed kidney disease, or those at high risk of developing kidney disease.

The laboratory analyst performs the renal function panel test to measure the levels of various substances in the blood. They may also collect the blood sample via venipuncture.
