This code should be reported in conjunction with an immunization administration code (e.g., 90460, 90461, 90471, 90472) for administrations other than COVID-19 vaccines. For COVID-19 vaccines, use 90480. Do not use modifier 51 with this code when an administration code is also reported.

Modifier 51 should not be reported with 90656 when reported with immunization administration codes.
