In simple words: This code represents one milligram of Treanda, a chemotherapy drug used to treat certain blood cancers. It's given through an IV and the dosage depends on the type of cancer and the patient's overall health.

Bendamustine HCl (Treanda) is an alkylating agent used in chemotherapy to treat certain types of cancers such as chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and B-cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. It works by killing cancer cells or slowing their growth. The usual dosage for CLL is 100 mg/m2 given intravenously over 30 minutes on days 1 and 2 of a 28-day cycle, up to 6 cycles. For indolent B-cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, 120 mg/m2 is administered intravenously over 60 minutes on days 1 and 2 of a 21-day cycle for up to 8 cycles. Dosages may be adjusted based on patient's hematologic and non-hematologic toxicity.Treanda is supplied as 100 mg of bendamustine HCl lyophilized powder in single-dose vials. This code is reported per 1 mg administered.

Example 1: A patient with CLL receives 100 mg/m2 of Treanda IV over 30 minutes on days 1 and 2 of a 28-day cycle. The code J9033 is reported for each 1 mg administered., A patient with indolent B-cell NHL receives 120 mg/m2 of Treanda IV infused over 60 minutes on days 1 and 2 of a 21-day cycle.J9033 is reported per each 1 mg given., Due to adverse effects, the physician reduces the dose of Treanda for a patient. The code J9033 is still reported for each 1 mg of the adjusted dose administered.
