Foreign body in vulva and vagina.

Use additional code(s) from Chapter 20 (External causes of morbidity) to indicate the cause of injury. Use additional code to identify any retained foreign body, if applicable (Z18.-).

Removal of the foreign body is medically necessary to prevent complications such as infection, trauma, or discomfort.

The clinician is responsible for removing the foreign body and ensuring no further damage or infection occurs. They also need to investigate the circumstances surrounding the presence of the foreign body.

In simple words: An object is stuck in the vulva or vagina.

Presence of a foreign object within the vulva and/or vagina.

Example 1: A young child inserts a small toy into her vagina., A woman experiences discomfort due to a retained tampon., A female patient presents with a foreign body in the vulva following a sexual assault.

Details of the foreign body (size, shape, material), the location (vulva, vagina, or both), method of removal, any associated injuries or complications, and patient-reported circumstances related to insertion.
