Fall from or off toilet.

This code should be used as a secondary code to a code from another chapter indicating the nature of the injury or condition.

The seventh character of the code should indicate whether the encounter is an initial encounter (A), subsequent encounter (D), or sequela (S).

Medical necessity is determined by the injuries sustained as a result of the fall. Treatment for the injuries is medically necessary.

Documenting the circumstances of the fall, any injuries sustained, and providing appropriate medical care.

Example 1: A 70-year-old male with a history of Parkinson's disease falls while attempting to sit down on the toilet at home, resulting in a fractured hip., A 3-year-old child climbs onto a toilet seat and falls, hitting their head on the sink., A 50-year-old female experiencing a bout of dizziness falls off the toilet, resulting in a minor concussion.

The documentation should include the location of the fall (toilet), the activity the patient was engaged in (using the toilet), any contributing factors (e.g., dizziness, weakness), and the injuries sustained.
